Sacred Death

Sacred Death guides the reader through the beliefs and rituals of the ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead, the spells and hymns that prepared the soul for the afterlife. The book explains the weighing of the heart, the parts of the Egyptian soul, the opening of the mouth ritual and the use of amulets and magic formulas, then compares these ideas with Western traditions of heaven, hell, judgment and funeral customs. A rich read for anyone drawn to Egyptology, the history of religions and the mysteries of life after death.
